Check dams are small constructs around canals and reservoirs. It is a very efficient way of maintaining water levels and avoiding soil erosion. This kind of water harvesting systems are not very uncommon even in ancient civilizations. Remote areas, especially regions dependant on agriculture have been building check dam like structures for centuries. Many of these structures were temporary constructs with bamboo, wood and gravel. Presently more effective structures are engineered in concrete. Vulnerable sites are identified and each construction is uniquely planned out for maximum impact.

Paramount ever since the beginging, has remained committed to constructing more check dams every year. One of the visions of our founder late Mr Shyam Sundar Aggarwal, was to replenish the water resources of he region we had begun or work in. Paramount carries his legacy and upholds his promises till date. Along with the Rotary club, we new construct check dams but also look into the maintenance of the older ones. This plays a vital role in ensuring water retention, helping not only farmers in irrigation but also adds to the groundwater level. Thus settlements around the areas are cushioned against the harsh summer weather. We have also seen an improved green cover in areas with check dams.

Paramount is thankful for your continued trust & support.
