A Brief History

In the year 1955, a small-scale cable manufacturing unit was set up as a family venture by Late Mr. Shyam Sunder Aggarwal, the founder chairman. Following its success, he established a new unit under the name of Paramount Cable Corporation in the year 1978 and started supplying telecom cables to the Department of Telecommunications. These humble beginnings with years of hard work, eventually transformed into Paramount Communications Limited and grew manifold to become one of the largest and most trusted names in the Indian cable manufacturing industry.

Diversification began with the manufacturing of specialized cables in the early 1980s. In the year 1984, it was the first company to be awarded the National Entrepreneurship Award by the President of India for Outstanding Achievement in the field of wire and cable manufacturing.

Paramount has consistently been recognized as one of the ‘Top 1000 Companies in India’ in the annual listing compiled by Business Standard Magazine. Other recognitions include the IMM Marketing Gold Award and AIIMO Visvesvaraya Entrepreneurship Award to name a few.

In  1995, the company floated its first IPO, thereafter becoming listed on stock exchanges in Mumbai, Kolkata and Delhi. It is now listed on both the BSE and the NSE.

Paramount has a strong export base, having executed orders for reputed international corporations and agencies in various countries such as the UK, Spain, Russia, South Africa, UAE, Jordan, Oman, Kuwait, Qatar, Iraq, Sri Lanka, Ukraine, Chile, Tanzania, Ghana, Kenya, Zambia, Nepal, Bangladesh and Nigeria. We have, for instance, executed orders for large projects for Oil and Power companies in Iraq and Oman.

History

  • Our founder Late Mr Shyam Sundar Aggarwal launched Paramount brand.

    1955
  • Launched PVC Telecom Cables for the Dept. of Telecom, Govt. of India.

    1976
  • Diversification into production of specialized cables.

    1980
  • Became the first cable manufacturer to successfully develop Axle counter cables for RDSO, Indian Railways.

    1982
  • Set up state of the art PIJF Cables plant in Dharuhera

    1995
  • Optical Fibre Cables plant operational.

    1999
  • Shifted the Delhi factory to spacious new facility at Khushkhera with substantial expansion and modernization.

    2000
  • Diversified into production of 11 & 33 KV, medium voltage power cables.

    2005
  • Acquired AEI cables : The world's oldest cable manufacturing company (Subsequently diversed in 2014)

    2007
  • Became a household name with the launch of the 1st Lead Free Wires for domestic wiring in India.

    2008
  • Started manufacturing Fire Survival cables. Most technologically advanced FS cable. Approved by BASEC & LPCB.

    2012
  • Started manufacturing PTFE Cables

    2013
  • With the Introduction of Solar Cables, Paramount takes a big leap towards facilitating clean energy in India.

    2016
  • Introduced EPC services as end-to-end solution for Construction, Design, Engineering & commissioning in various sectors

Our founder, Late Mr Shyam Sundar Aggarwal established Paramount Cables as a small firm in 1955 with a manufacturing setup of one machine and a handful of employees.

Today, more than 60 years later, we have grown into an industry leader with a group turnover of Rs 1000 crore with a complete range of cables including House Wiring, CATV Cables, Optical Fiber cables for Telecom & Defence, High Voltage & Low Voltage Power Cables, Control & Instrumentation Cables etc, with almost all the esteemed customers and approvals in India, and exports to more than 50 countries. Mr. Narendra Kumar Goyal has extensive experience and exposure of 52 years in the areas of Telecom and IT Sector He is a postgraduate in science. He is actively involved in policy formulations and development of industrial policies specially related to telecom and IT sector. He is the chairman of first & oldest telecom association- TEMA- the telecom equipment manufacturers association of India established in 1990. He is the Founder & President of CMAI association of India and Founder & Vice Chairman International Telecom Union APT India; Founder & Member Governing Board Telecom Equipment & Services Export Promotion Council associated with several industry associations.

QUALITY

Quality has always been of primary importance at Paramount Cables. Our products are a vital infrastructural input and we deliver the best possible quality. The manufacturing process is meticulously scrutinized right from the procurement of raw materials until the final dispatch of finished goods.

The plants, located in the industrial areas of Khushkhera (Rajasthan) and Dharuhera (Haryana) close to New Delhi are ISO certified with a special emphasis on health and safety at the workplace. Meeting the exacting standards and procedures of designing, production and supply we have most prestigious approvals in cable manufacturing from globally acknowledged bodies such as LPCB. The units and products are routinely audited by these independent international agencies thus warranting absolute confidence in Paramount products timelessly.

Computerized equipments at our Quality Assurance and Testing Laboratories test our cables very stringently under all the parameters as per the requirements of relevant quality standards or the client’s specified requirements. Quality checks also include Raw Material and In Process Inspections; Sample, Routine, Type, Acceptance, and other Special Tests, at every stage.

The plants are equipped with state-of-the-art facilities as technology plays a pivotal role in the manufacturing process. Our highly professional engineers and technicians are passionately committed to delivering distinctive quality each time. Constant training, in the form of production and quality workshops, ensure that our employees are equipped with the latest skills and knowledge.

Indian Approvals and Specifications

Paramount Cables has been approved by the Bureau of Indian Standards to mark our cables with ISI product certification namely

  • IS 7098 Part 1 and Part 2 (LT 1.1 KV and from 3.3 KV to 33 KV HT XLPE Power Cables),
  • IS 14255 (1.1KV Aerial Bunch Cables),
  • IS 694 (for light duty PVC Cables) and
  • IS 1554 Part I (1.1 KV heavy duty armoured and unarmoured cables including control cables).

Paramount Cables manufactures cables as per

  • Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS),
  • Indian Railway Specifications (IRS),
  • Indian Telecom Department (ITD),
  • Telecom Engineering Centre (TEC)

International Approvals and Specifications

Both the manufacturing plants have been awarded ISO:9001 & ISO:14001 Certifications for the complete range of cables manufactured there.

We hold the very prestigious LPCB approval (Loss Prevention Certification Board under the ageis of BRE Global) for our FireSecure & FireSecure Punch range of cables.

Our Solar Cables are certified by TUV Rheinland Group, Germany.

CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY

Paramount firmly believes in giving back to the country and community that has played a vital role in its success. Over the years, Paramount has dedicated support and attention to various causes in the country.

A benefactor of the Samarpan Foundation’s Homes in Delhi for children, Paramount has brought hope for the orphaned, abandoned and abused. The homes focus on creating childhood experiences and providing an environment that feels like a family home by connecting with surrogate parents for the children. Most children are enrolled into private schools while children with specific requirements are home tutored and provided with vocational training. Other initiatives patronized by the Paramount and the promoter family are the Blind School for children in RK Puram, Delhi, the Pet Hospital & Boarding Shelter for stray, abandoned and injured/ diseased dogs in Vasant Kunj, Delhi and the Goshala centre for cattle in Karol Bagh, Delhi.

Championed by our MD Mr Sandeep Aggarwal, Blood Donation Camps are organized annually at Paramount’s facilities in association with the Rotary Blood Bank, with enthusiastic staff contribution. The employees also contribute by volunteering to work with the Blood Donation Camps that are held all around NCR.

Paramount is one of the main benefactors of the Viklang Kendra in New Delhi, a Rotary Club social initiative for the physically challenged. The company regularly donates artificial limbs to the Kendra. Paramount is also a supporter of the Rotary Vidya Kendra, an initiative which runs a crèche for underprivileged children. The Vidya Kendra runs a computer-training program that is open to all underprivileged children free of cost. Children who have been unsuccessful in their board examinations are also trained to appear for open school examinations. The Kendra also teaches women employable skills such as candle making, toy making, sewing, etc. Other Rotary initiatives that Paramount supports are the Rotary Institute Cancer Hospital at AIIMS New Delhi and the International Rotary Foundation, which works towards the emancipation of girls, sanitation, education, eradication of polio and other causes in underdeveloped nations.

Paramount regularly donates to the Government school situated next to its works in Khushkera, Rajasthan. Electricity, fans, furniture, toilets, water pumps and playground equipment have been donated to the school by the Company. Writing books, stationery, school bags and uniforms are also donated annually to the school children. Paramount also encourages and supports sports programs in the area, including an Inter-Village Cricket Tournament and an Inter-School Sports Meet of Government schools.

Paramount has also donated land and building to the Government in Prahaladpur, Delhi, in order to run a free medical dispensary. The Company consistently donates towards various causes that require attention at any given time.
